Macclesfield Town manager John Askey has praised the hard work behind the scenes that is helping him build his squad for the forthcoming campaign.
Last month saw the Silkmen host a special evening for the sponsors of the Football Club. Over 150 representatives from businesses within the surrounding area joined the Football Club for a relaxed evening as a thank you from Macclesfield Town.
John was present at that evening and says he can see the hard work of people at the Football Club beginning to pay off.
He told mtfc.co.uk: “The sponsors evening was about letting people know that we are grateful for their support. It wasn’t a case of us getting the begging bowl out, it was just about showing that we appreciate the work of these local people.
“Without these people, we wouldn’t have a Football Club and the Football Club plays a massive part in the town. It was a fantastic evening and well done to Dan Ackerley who is doing a great job with the commercial side for organising it.
“Things are looking good at the minute. At times things come across as gloom and doom, but I say these things sometimes just to get a reaction so that people are aware of the situation we are in.
“But I think we are as strong as we have been for a number of years and it is far from doom and gloom.”
