John Askey believes Macclesfield Town should have scored more than three goals in their FA Trophy win away at AFC Sudbury.

Macc were much the better side and looked comfortable throughout the 90 minutes as they booked their place in the third round.

John has also revealed that it is a competition that Macc want to do well in so they get the opportunity to play at Wembley.

Speaking to Silkmen Player HD, he said; “We know that in the trophy that you don’t have to win too many games to get to Wembley so it’s a competition that we want to do well in.

“We should have scored more, we should have had a penalty in the first five minutes and their player should have been sent off but apart from that everything went well!”

Macc’s attention now turns to the league as Guiseley are the visitors to the Moss Rose on Saturday and Askey is targeting the 60-point mark.

“If we’re going to do anything then we need to be on 60 points as soon as possible – we’re on 43 at the moment so we need to get a string of results together to get us in and around the play-offs,” he added.
