Macclesfield Town manager John Askey has spoken to SilkmenTV about new loan signing Shamir Mullings.

The 24-year-old striker joins the Silkmen on an initial two-month loan from Macclesfield’s FA Cup first round opponents Forest Green Rovers, in search of first team action.

Askey said: “We have been talking about trying to get a big centre forward in for a long time now, and hopefully Shamir will provide us with something different. Our main problem has been putting the ball in the back of the net, so if he can start doing that for us then we should be in a strong position.”

Askey says Mullings’ height will allow the Silkmen to have options to change to a more direct approach during games.

“For two or three years or more we have been looking for someone who can hold a ball up and hopefully Shamir will do that, allowing us to play a different way.”
