A support package to enable National League clubs to start the new season has been confirmed by Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston.
Huddleston said this afternoon: “We have given the National League assurance financial support will be forthcoming so the season can start on Saturday.”
The package is to be allocated across the league’s member clubs (Steps 1 and 2) to enable the season to start behind closed doors. With the top two tiers of non-league deemed ‘elite’, supporters are still not currently permitted to attend matches, meaning a continuing huge loss of revenue for clubs.
The exact figure and how it will be divided is yet to be communicated.
