Atherton Collieries manager Micheal Clegg has signed winger Connor Hughes on loan from Conference North side Curzon Ashton.
Hughes first broke through with Oldham Athletic, making his Football League debut as a teenager. He has a wealth of experience in the Conference North with Halifax Town and Hyde United, where he linked up with Colls striker Tom Bentham. He spent last season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division with Warrington Town and Stalybridge Celtic before joining Curzon, for whom he had been a long term target.
“We were made aware that Connor needed games at the time we lost Ben Conway. It’s an unbelievable signing for us at this stage of the season, to get someone in of Connor’s ability. He is an exciting player and fits in with how we play. We can’t wait to see him in action. He is desperate to do well and get back playing. I’d like to thank Mark Bradshaw for making it happen, we have had a really good relationship since he got the manager’s job at Curzon.”
