Young defender Niall Battersby has signed his first contract with Atherton Collieries.
Joining over summer from Manchester League champions Hindsford, Battersby has put in a series of memorable performances, earning plaudits and awards along the way.
On his arrival, manager Micheal Clegg highlighted his vision and reading of the game, predicting he could go far. Stating recently that he’s yet to see a better young defender at this level, the club have moved to secure his services.
Battersby told the club’s website:
“Personally I’m very delighted to have signed a contract for a club like Colls. This season has been tough as it’s been a massive step up from playing at Hindsford last year, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far.”
