Ben Atkinson committed his future to Farsley last week, joining Jimmy Spencer, Nathan Cartman and his brother Chris Atkinson in penning new contracts.

Atkinson has become a popular figure at the club, with the versatile midfielder playing anywhere across the middle of the park, whilst also filling in at full-back on a number of occasions.

The ex-Huddersfield youth team player made over 100 appearances in his first two seasons at Throstle Nest, and last season improved his goalscoring record as he hit the back of the net nine times, compared to eight in the previous campaign.

He was thrilled to get his new deal completed, as he said: “I’m delighted to have signed for next season. It’s great that it’s done so soon as well, it means I can relax a bit over summer until the hard work starts to get ready for the upcoming season.

“Last year was an unbelievable season, it was the most enjoyable season I’ve had so far in football.

“Everyone involved with the club played their part and to get over the line and win the league on the last game of the season was just an amazing feeling.

“I’ll be going into my third season at the club next season and I have loved it since day one.”
