Frickley Athletic boss Karl Rose insists the attitude of his squad was the main reason why they were able to finish seventh in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.
While many predicted the side to be nearer the middle of the table due to their budget, in the end it was a 10 year high finish for the club.
“As a club we are delighted, we did so well post Christmas, with the players we brought in, it just worked, we ended on a great run and we faced all the big teams in the division and did so well against them.”
The side ended the season with a seven game unbeaten, although they lost their last match it was still enough for a place just outside the play-offs:
“I give little reminders to the squad, we give 100 per cent of hard work, no matter what formation they have all tried, given it their all and it has been a pleasure to manage them and I can’t wait to start again.”
When looking at the aim for the side for the new season, Rose had this message: “Although I am happy, we finished 7th, that means we can improve and aim to do even better, we want to keep the squad together add a little bit more quality then you never know, we have no superstars but we give it everyone, blood, sweat and tears and if we keep doing that, you can’t go far wrong.”
“If you stand still, you end up moving backwards, we want to move on, we want to be known as a club who improve as often as possible, we have shop from the leagues below, but I enjoy the process of taking those players on and seeing the improvement.”
