Aylesbury United have reported the sad news that first team coach Gary Hawksworth has passed away.

The Ducks announced the news via their website on Friday morning.

A statement read “It is with great sadness that we have to report that first team coach Gary Hawksworth passed away yesterday (Thursday 28th January) from a suspected heart attack, at the age of 52. He was on holiday in the Maldives.

Having joined Aylesbury United in 2009, Gary’s love of the club during nearly seven years with us was always evident – as was his enthusiasm for the game, and he became a popular figure within the management team working with Tony Joyce and Glyn Creaser.

The thoughts and condolences of everyone at Aylesbury United are with his family at this very difficult time. There will be a minutes applause before this weekend’s fixture with Fleet Town”
