Mat Bailey has decided to leave Nantwich Town and join Evo-Stik NPL neighbours Stafford Rangers.
Mat has had a long assocation with the Dabbers, all the way back from when he was with us at a youth team player.
He left to join Stockport County and enjoyed a wide ranging playing career. He rejoined the club in 2011 and went on to become an important member of the team. He briefly left again to join AFC Telford United, but once again returned.
Mat has been a great servant over the last decade in a number of spells with the club, but felt he needed a fresh challenge. He departs with the clubs blessing and our gratitude. We wish him all the best in the future.
Dabbers boss Phil Parkinson said: “Bails has been a great defender for Nantwich Town Football Club and a popular player around the club with teammates and supporters alike.
He came to chat to me about Stafford and then later informed me of his decision, which I accepted. Mat will be missed in the squad no doubt, but with Ben Harrison and Curtis Jones I am happy with my central defenders and we have other players such as the returning Daz Thornton that can cover as well.
I wish Mat all the best in the future, he’s a great guy, and thank him for all his hard work for Nantwich Town since I became manager.”
