St Albans City can carry on as the surprise package of the Vanarama National League South according to Zane Banton, one the the stars of their season so far.
In fact, the 21-year-old forward doesn’t think the leaders have hit their peak quite yet!
The Saints sit proudly on top of the league having won five out of five games.
They are aiming to make it a super seven this weekend by beating Concord Rangers on Saturday and Braintree Town on Bank Holiday Monday.
Banton isn’t surprised by the start made in Hertfordshire. Even after a mixed close season.
“We had a good pre season, minutes wise and fitness wise,” explained the former Hemel and Boreham Wood loanee. “But actually our results weren’t the best.
“But I wasn’t concerned going into the season because of my loan spell from Luton at the end of last season, I saw how well we played and some of the football we played. So it hasn’t surprised me that we’ve started the season like this.
“I definitely think we can carry it on, we have played some of the teams already who are predicted to be there or there abouts come the end of the season and we have beaten them.
“To be honest we haven’t even been at our best yet in terms of going forward,” he added.
It’s a big weekend coming up so can the Saints stretch their legs?
“There’s no reason why we can’t get another six points on the board,” striker Banton said. “That’s what we’ll be aiming to do definitely.”
