Barnet will be back in the Vanarama National League next season as the Bees couldn’t quite manage one of their great escapes on the final day this time.

It was a 3-0 home win over already-relegated Chesterfield, but as Morecambe picked up a point at Coventry, Martin Allen’s team were relegated on goal difference, four goals worse off than Morecambe. It is the first time Allen has suffered relegation in his remarkable five stints as Bees manager.

Barnet had gone up to League Two as champions three years ago and were 15th in each of their first two seasons back, but this time around they spent the majority of the campaign in the drop zone, with four different managers over the year.
