Barnstaple Town are planning redevelop their Mill Road home to bring it up to EVO-STIK League Southern and Football Association ground-grading standards.

The EVO-STIK League Division One South & West’s Barum have submitted plans for a new off the shelf combined stand at Mill Road to replace their current one which was erected after World War II.

Now in need of replacement to meet current ground-grading requirements, the club’s officials hope to replace it with three 50-seater lightweight and cost-effective pre-assembled galvanised steel stands.

Under the club’s proposals submitted to North Devon Council which are now the subject of a public consultation exercise ending on March 10, the dugouts at Mill Road are set to remain but could be lowered after the old stand is demolished to give fans an unrestricted view of the action.

If the plans for their home since the 1930s are given the green light by their local authority’s planners, fans of the 2016 Western League champions can also look forward to enjoying a new structure which will be fully FIFA and UEFA compliant and offer improved access for spectators with mobility problems.
