Port Vale’s Dior Angus has been praised by his Barrow manager as he tries to fight his way back to fitness.

The 25-year-old, who is on loan from the Vale, is suffering from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for a month.

Angus has scored twice in nine appearances since joining Barrow on loan in January. He had scored 14 goals on loan with Nuneaton Borough in the National League North in the first half of the season so Vale were keen to see him tested at a higher level in the National League with Barrow.

Angus is out of contract in the summer and Barrow boss Ian Evatt says he can understand him being desperate to play.

Evatt told the Barrow Mail: “I think with there being so little games left he just tried to rush back to try and earn himself a contract for next season.

“I can’t criticise the player for that because it’s so good and refreshing to see that he’ll do everything he can to get on the football pitch, but at the same time he needs to make sure the injury has healed properly.”
