Barrow AFC have beaten several clubs at both Vanarama National League and National League North level to land highly rated Northwich Victoria midfielder or forward Jordan Williams.

Williams, who turned 23 last month, was a key member of Vics’ Emirates FA Cup run which saw them reach the Second Round after a First Round proper replay win at Boreham Wood.

Warrington-based Williams signed his contract at training yesterday lunchtime, which could keep him at Holker Street until the end of next season.

He is Paul Cox’s first permanent signing as manager with scout Paul Ogden also playing a significant part in the acquisition.

Williams was on non-contract terms at Northwich, but Barrow have agreed a sell-on clause with their former Conference colleagues as recognition of the preferential access afforded to the player.

Williams’ registration, which was not subject to transfer window restrictions, was confirmed by both the FA and National League, making him eligible for today’s trip to Gateshead.
