Managing director Andrew Casson says Barrow AFC are very close to being able to unveil their new manager.

Casson said before last last weekend he felt an appointment was imminent. But the selection procedure has taken a bit longer than expected, as talks have continued with two or three very good candidates in the frame.

However, Casson hopes the club will be in a position to announce the successor to Ady Pennock over the next few days.

“I know it’s a difficult situation because the fans want to know who the new manager is, but until everything is finalized there is no point in saying anything,” said Casson.

“I think we are in the final stages now. We have had two or three very good candidates and now it’s about working through the process.

“There is a big gap between narrowing it down to the person you want for the role and that person actually signing a contract.”
