Following an appeal, John Rooney’s red card against Torquay United on Saturday has been overturned, Barrow have confirmed.

The Bluebirds lodged an appeal after the midfielder was shown a straight red card for an alleged deliberate handball in the 42nd minute at Plainmoor. The incorrect decision also resulted in a penalty for Torquay with the scores locked at 1-1 going into the half-time break.

The FA confirmed on Monday evening that Barrow’s appeal had been successful, meaning the Bluebirds will have their key man available for the clash with Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road tonight.
