Former Northwich Victoria winger Jordan Williams has left Vanarama National League club Barrow and completed a move to SkyBet League One side Rochdale.

Williams’ future had been the source of speculation throughout the second half of last season, with a number of Football League clubs showing an interest in securing the services of a player that has rapidly made his way up the football pyramid.

Williams joined Barrow from Northwich Victoria in January 2016 after he caught the eye in the Vics’ FA Cup run that took them to the Second Round.

He grabbed the opening goal in their 2-1 win in a First Round replay against Boreham Wood.

The Vics exited the competition at the hands of Northampton Town in the Second Round, with Williams moving to Barrow just one month later.

His good fortune in the FA Cup continued when he was part of the Barrow side that reached the Third Round last season, beating the likes of Taunton Town and Bristol Rovers on their way to a Third Round home tie.

Ironically, their opposition that day were Williams’ new employers, as Rochdale ended Barrow’s hopes of reaching the Fourth Round with a 2-0 at Holker Street.

Talks between the two clubs have been going on over a number of days, with offers from other clubs rejected as talks intensified.

Williams will now begin the season with Rochdale and manager Keith Hill was delighted to sign a player he believes is “very honest, grounded, determined and hungry”

He said “He’s a great acquisition by the football club. He’s someone we’ve been pursuing since the end of the season and it’s just great to get the deal done.

“He will be a great privilege to work with, he’s very honest, grounded, determined and hungry. He has great ability, his assists and goal scoring for Barrow this season has been superb, and he was our number one target to recruit in those wide areas of the pitch where we’ve lost Nataniel Mendez-Laing”.

No names but the club are working hard and I would imagine defenders
