Playing at left wing-back is starting to come naturally for Josh Kay, who has been learning his new position during Barrow AFC’s brilliant first half of the campaign.

Bluebirds boss Ian Evatt spent a fair part of last season looking for Kay’s best position, in what was a fitful first season at Holker Street for the 22-year-old after signing from Chesterfield.

He began the current campaign on the left of a front three, but since Evatt switched to playing three at the back, Kay has been moved to his current position, which he has made his own over the last three months.

Kay said: “I know exactly what I’m doing, but like with everyone and everything in life there’s always room for improvement, so I will keep working hard every day, listen to the gaffer and Pete [Atherton] and hopefully I’ll just keep improving in that position.”
