Basford United manager Martin Carruthers expressed his delight last night in the capture of defender Lewis Carr from Grantham Town.

Plying his trade in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League for Grantham, Basford are delighted to clinch this signing.

With United losing key central defender Rob Darkin for the season with a knee injury that is likely to require surgery, Basford were in the market for a high quality addition to bolster the depleted defensive ranks, which Lewis fits the bill perfectly.

United now will work at pace to get the signing registered today, to meet the deadline for tomorrow’s big FA Trophy tie away to Stamford FC.

Basford don’t rule our further signings as the club seeks to make a big winter push towards the top positions in what is a very even Evo-Stik South division this campaign.
