Kieran Fenton’s dramatic last gasp winner moved Basford United closer to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South title.

In the fifth minute of added time Fenton dived to meet Matt Thornhill’s cross to head beyond Jack Steggles, the final whistle sounding just after. It was harsh on Carlton who had contributed to an entertaining local derby.

It was Basford who drew first blood, Rob Duffy heading in Thornhill’s corner at the far post seven minutes before half time.

Carlton turned the game around with two goals in three minutes early in the second half. Tyler Blake headed in on 50 minutes, then Jordan Wilson scored with a fierce rising shot.

Liam Hearn levelled with fourteen minutes remaining, scoring his 32nd goal of the season with a low shot.
