Basford United have signed midfielder Ollie Clark from Carlton Town.

The Northern Premier Division club say the 20-year-old has joined on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The agreement includes ‘a sizeable sell-on percentage’ for near neighbours and Northern Premier League Division One South East side Carlton.

In addition, Basford say that The Millers will have first option on taking their youngsters on loan.

Basford boss Steve Chettle told the club’s website: ”Ollie is a highly talented player that we have been aware of since his breakthrough into the Carlton Town first team three seasons ago. He is a high-energy, central midfielder that has an eye for a goal.

“His experience at playing in the very competitive non-league format from an early age and flourishing at that level is something that is extremely important. He is the right fit for our football club and we look forward to what the future will bring for Ollie.”
