Basford United travel to Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday. Three days later, on Tuesday, they face Carlton Town in the final of the Notts FA Senior Cup at Mansfield Town’s ground, kick off 7.45.

Interim manager Liam Hearn commented: “We are going into the weekend game in fine spirits after an excellent performance in midweek at Matlock, where we were unlucky not to get all three points.

“Stalybridge will be tough opposition as they will be going all out for points to ease their situation at the bottom of the table.

“On Tuesday we have the Senior Cup Final, which is a competition that is very important to the club and we will be going all out to win.

“Obviously Carlton will be feeling the same and will be up for the game. It is a one-off and league position counts for nothing, it is about who does the business on the night.

“We want to keep up our momentum so will be aiming to win both games. There is no question of us resting players on Saturday.”
