Despite their relegation from the Vanarama National League South, Basingstoke Town have confirmed that they will go to a full-time status next season.

Relegation into step three was confirmed by last Tuesday’s defeat against Gosport basingstokeBorough and they will take their place in the Isthmian or Southern League next season, with the FA’s restructuring dictating their destination.

And although they will ply their trade at a lower level next season, the club have taken the decision to allow manager Terry Brown to operate with a full-time squad.

In a statement released on their website the club confirmed the decision.

The statement read “The club are pleased to announce that the first team will be going full time from next season.

Manager Terry Brown is to start the process of recruitment with immediate effect. We are creating a different approach with the philosophy of building a young side, based around investing and recruiting the best young players released by League clubs in the South, alongside a number of experienced individuals”
