Bath City’s defeat at Dartford gave Jerry Gill much to ponder as he plots his summer transfer business and pushing on for promotion.

The Romans’ hopes of a play-off spot were put to rest after a 2-0 defeat away to top-of-the-table Dartford, who scored through Danny Mills and Alfie Pavey. While Gill was full of praise for Dartford after their win, he was disappointed to see his side leave chances on the pitch and rued unforced errors that led to Dartford’s goals.

He said: “They are where they are in the league for the reasons that we’ve seen today in this 90 minutes. We haven’t been able to take our chance first half with a really good chance for Jack Batten on the far post with a clear volley.

“The disappointing thing for me is two mistakes that have cost goals. It was our throw in, the first one, where we’ve given ball away.”

Gill went on to add: “We know where we need to strengthen this summer and it’s given me a really good insight into the league. We’re not far away at all but we do need to improve in certain areas and we’ll do that in the summer.”
