The BBC have confirmed that the Emirates FA Cup tie between South Shields and Bridlington Town has been chosen for live coverage via their online channels.
The tie takes place on Saturday lunchtime at Evo-Stik League club South Shields’ Mariners Park home and sees both clubs receive a £1,000 fee from the BBC.
The fixture is the second tie of this season’s competition to be shown on the BBC’s digital channels and forms part of their extended coverage of the FA Cup.
Two weeks ago they were at Litherland REMYCA for their 2-0 win against AFC Liverpool, with the game streamed live across BBC Sport’s digital platforms, allowing audiences to watch the game live on PC, mobile or connected TV. The tie will also be available live and on-demand on the BBC iPlayer.
Saturday’s tie on South Tyneside will be given the same treatment, as former Sheffield United midfielder Curtis Woodhouse takes his Bridlington Town side to the North East to face a Mariners side that have started the season with two impressive wins.
On Saturday, goals from Carl Finnigan and Jon Shaw gave them a 2-1 win at Trafford and on Tuesday night they were 5-0 winners in their first home game of the season against Brighouse Town.
Bridlington have started their Toolstation NCEL campaign with a 2-1 win at Hall Road Rangers, thanks to a brace from Brett Agnew.
They face another away fixture on Wednesday night as they head to Worksop Town.
Match of the Day’s Conor McNamara and former Manchester United striker Danny Webber booked to cover the tie which has also been brought forward to kick off at 12.30pm.
