Bedford Town have announced the signing of goalkeeper Ashlee Jones.
Jones has been at Vanarama National League side Braintree Town this season, and has also played in the Football League with Darlington. His other clubs include, Rushden & Diamonds, Wycombe Wanderers, Lowestoft Town and Chesham United.
He started his youth career at Southampton, and was in the squad that reached the the FA Youth Cup final in 2005, as he played alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, and Adam Lallana.
Talking to bedfordeagles.net, manager, Jon Taylor had this to say:
“Ashlee will be another piece in our jigsaw for the duration of this season and also next season’s campaign.
He is a ‘keeper that myself and Nathan (Abbey) highly rate, and he ticks all the boxes of what we want in a goalkeeper, and he has the experience of playing at the higher levels of the non-league pyramid.
“At 31 years old, he will give us that vast experience, stature and athleticism between the sticks, and is rated at steps 1 and 2. I am especially pleased that a player of Ashlee’s ability has signed for the Eagles.”
