Liam McDonald has signed Chris Lait, a born and bred Solihull player, from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stourbridge.
The 24-year-old midfielder scored over 20 goals for the Glassboys last season, 15 in the league and the remainder in their incredible cup run which lasted until the 2–1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers in round three.
Lait was in fact a key member of Moors` under-19 team back in 2010/11 and broke into the senior squad the following year where his job clashed with Saturday football resulting in him being transferred to Stratford Town.
In his own words “when I realised how much I wanted to play football, I had to start again. From Stratford it was on to Banbury United, then Halesowen Town before Rushall Olympic and finally to Stourbridge”.
It was at Stourbridge that Lait settled into the family atmosphere of the club and being more settled started to play his best football, attracting the attention of other clubs along with his strike partner Luke Benbow.
Lait came up against the likes of Dover Athletic, Kidderminster Harriers and Eastleigh whilst at Stourbridge and feels ready now to take on all that the National League can throw at him.
“I am delighted to have signed for Liam McDonald who I am sure will help me improve and develop the consistency needed at this higher level. I will do my best to help Moors concrete their position in the league and hopefully rise higher,” he said.
Of his latest acquisition, McDonald says: “I have tried to sign Chris before and am pleased that this time it has been successful.
“He is a quick dynamic mid fielder who also scores goals!
“He has a strong physical presence and I am really looking forward to working with him”.
