Billericay Town have confirmed the departure of former Liverpool and Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant.

The 35-year-old had been strongly rumoured to be on his way out of the Essex club after not featuring of late, with his most recent appearance coming almost a month ago. The one-time Stoke City man had been reported over the New Year period to be leaving the Bostik League Premier Division leaders but a u-turn followed, with co-owner and manager Glenn Tamplin announcing he had agreed to stay and would be taking a pay cut.

His exit from the club follows that of another one-time Premier League player, defender Paul Konchesky, who left in November.
