Jake Robinson says he was over the moon to score his first ever four goal haul as Billericay started the season in emphatic fashion against Truro City…and he did it all with a broken boot!

Robinson ripped his right boot when he prodded home his opening goal after five minutes. But that didn’t stop him from netting three more before he was substituted – twice with his feet – in the 4-0 drubbing of Truro at the home of Torquay United.

And Robinson, who scored 57 goals last season, said he never expected to start the campaign in such a manner.

“It is the first time I’ve ever scored four in a game and it could have been more if I was being picky,” said the 31-year-old striker.

“The first one came from a lovely move down the left with two of our new boys Adam Coombes and Callum Kennedy involved. Callum sent in what I call a ‘goal ball’ as my job was simple. I got across the defender to score but ripped my boot in doing so.”
