Goalkeeper Mo Nyamunga has decided to leave Binfield and join Combined Counties League Premier Division side Badshot Lea.
He signed for the Moles from Alton Town last November, but lost his place to Liam Vaughan in February, only to regain it late on when the youngster fractured his wrist.
His last appearance was in the 3-0 defeat by Bracknell in the Reading Senior Cup final. A problem with Nyamunga and Binfield was that he lives in Farnborough and doesn’t drive, forcing him to rely on lifts to matches. “With that in mind, it is better for him to move to a club nearer his home and we wish him well,” said manager Roger Herridge.
Vaughan is likely to start next season as the first choice, with Herridge commenting: “He impressed when he came into the side. He is young and keen with a lot of potential. I have told Liam he will have the chance to prove himself in pre-season when we will also be looking at another keeper.”
Herridge is looking to strengthen his Uhlsport Hellenic League squad and admits to having “lots of irons in the fire.”
Despite suffering six defeats to their neighbours last season, Binfield are looking forward to being involved in Bracknell Town’s four-team tournament which is to be held over successive weekends – July 8-9 and 15-16.
Windsor were scheduled to compete, but the Hellenic League newcomers have now decided to opt out and their place has been taken by Eversley & California from the Combined Counties League Division 1. Wokingham & Emmbrook complete the quartet of clubs who will be taking part.
