Leamington boss Paul Holleran has moved quickly to fill the void left by the departure of goalkeeper and captain Tony Breeden by signing Jake Weaver from Birmingham City.
22-year-old Weaver was the trialist between the posts in last Saturday’s win over West Bromwich Albion’s Under-23s and has signed on a season-long loan from Blues, for whom he signed a new one-year contract in the summer.
The goalkeeper has been a regular for the Championship side’s Under-23s under Leamington’s former player-coach Richard Beale, having been at the club since the age of 12. He is no stranger to Leamington’s level of football, having spent time on loan at Hungerford Town and Kidderminster Harriers last season, along with a further spell at Hednesford Town in the Northern Premier League.
Weaver was named in Birmingham’s first-team squad for a number of games in 2018/19.
