Bishop’s Stortford have announced the appointment of Mark Hawkes and Steve Smith as their new joint-managers.

The pair had a successful spell at Heybridge Swifts before taking over Chelmsford City in the wake of the Dean Holdworth era and lead the Essex club away from the National League South relegation zone.

“We’re delighted to have appointed Mark and Steve as our new management team,” said Bishop`s Stortford chairman Ian Kettridge.

“They were our first choice to take over what will be a tough job, and we’re confident they will be successful.”

Hawkes and Smith will be in charge for the first time tomorrow when the Blues visit league leaders Maidenhead United.
