Bishop’s Stortford have strengthened their squad ahead of Saturday’s league opener against Bognor Regis Town with the re-signing of Ben Worman.

The youngster – who will be 18 at the end of the month – joins on loan from Cambridge United, having initially signed for the Blues in January. He made an immediate impact, going on to score nine goals in 21 games as Blues made a late bid for a play-off spot.

After Blues’ season finished, he returned to the U’s and made his Football League debut as a 76th-minute substitute in a 1-1 draw at Macclesfield on the final day of the campaign. The winger had already played for the U’s in an EFL Trophy tie, making him the youngest player in their history.

Blues are hopeful that his loan deal will be approved by the FA in time for the visit of Bognor on Saturday.
