Bishops Stortford boss Rod Stringer was delighted as his side collected their nine league win of the campaign on Saturday.

Goals from Robbie Willmott and Elliott Buchanan sunk a promotion-chasing Gosport Borough side, leaving Stringer a happy man:

“I was delighted with how we played and I thought the boys were fantastic in tough conditions” he said.

“After the first 20 minutes we raised the tempo, and for the rest of the afternoon I was confident that we’d win the game. We never had a wobbly patch where we looked like conceding a silly goal, and we never looked shaky.

“I thought we were good value from start to finish. It was a good day at the office and there were some real pluses.

“It’s always good to get a clean sheet, and Robbie [Willmott] marked his league debut with a terrific goal. Ashley [Miller] came back and it was as if he’d never been away – he did well to get the cross in for the goal. I was pleased with Corby Moore in his first home league game, and all the new boys did what we’ve brought them in for. I think they’ve made us a stronger side.

“We wanted Robbie to have a go at their right back and get the crosses in. if he’d been in the middle he probably wouldn’t have been in the positon to get the goal.

“Two goals and a clean sheet, that’s an all-round perfect day.”
