Blyth Spartans have announced the season-long loan signing of New Zealand international Sam Brotherton from Sunderland, as well as midfielder Connor Oliver joining the club.
21-year-old central defender Brotherton told the club’s official website: “I like a battle and a challenge, the fans can expect me to be vocal at the back and look to lead by example.”
When asked what he was particularly looking forward to this season, the Black Cat loanee mentioned one competition specifically.
“It’s the dream of any boy across the world to play in the FA Cup, as a youngster in New Zealand you see it on TV and think I want to be part of that, I’m really excited for the season ahead with Spartans.”
24-year-old midfielder Oliver spent last season with National League side Halifax Town – making 20 appearances for the Shaymen.
