Blyth Spartans’ Callum Roberts is to go on trial with Rotherham United.

The wideman’s trial has been reported by The Sunderland Echo, and it comes after the former Newcastle United youngster was the hat-trick hero at the weekend as Lee Clark’s Blyth side earned their first league win of the season at the 12th attempt.

The 22-year-old scored all three in the 3-1 home victory over AFC Telford United in the National League North and he will now join up with League One Rotherham this week.
