Jeff King has reflected on his “fantastic” loan spell with FC United of Manchester after returning to Macron Stadium.

The Bolton Wanderers Under-23s midfielder hit the headlines last weekend after scoring a memorable hat-trick in his final game for the club against Bradford Park Avenune, which included a stunning free-kick and ‘Panenka’-style penalty. His performance was made all the more special as his loan move had originally been due to end two days before the game before a brief extension was granted.

Having made his Whites debut against West Ham United back in September, the 22-year-old had three appearances for Phil Parkinson’s side prior to his temporary move to Broadhurst Park. Netting a hat-trick was not the only memorable moment of King’s one-month loan spell, as he also scored in FC United’s incredible 4-4 draw against Boston United.

The Red Rebels came from 3-0 down to snatch a point, with the young Wanderer coming off the bench to get their second of the afternoon. And having scored four goals in five appearances for FC United, the midfielder spoke to the National League website to reflect on his time with the club.

“To score three on my last game was fantastic,” King said. “It was a really great feeling and I really enjoyed my time with the club.

“I’ve loved seeing my free-kick back on Twitter – I’ve always fancied myself on set pieces, in fact all three goals came from them.

“Everyone thought my last game was on Tuesday but I managed one more! I was glad I did as it was my best game of the lot.”

King continued; “I have learned so much and I have got to say what a great club FC United of Manchester are. They’ve got a massive future.”
