Runcorn Town forward Ryan Cox has left the club to rejoin Bootle.

The striker signed in August 2018 from the Merseyside club, making his debut at Penistone Church in the Emirates FA Cup. He played just 12 times for the club but his return was phenomenal, scoring 11 goals in those games. That includes scoring in each of his last six games for the club, meaning that he was firmly on course to break Ian Cocks’ record of scoring in nine consecutive games set in 2005.

Speaking of his departure, manager Chris Herbert said: “Ryan wants to go back to Bootle and help his friends there get back on track, and we thank him for his efforts for Runcorn Town. We wish him well but players come and go at all clubs and that’s football.

“It now provides somebody else with the chance to get into the starting XI for us, starting on Wednesday in our FA Vase replay.”
