Gateshead have signed youngster Andre Bennett on a month-long loan deal from Championship side Middlesbrough
Able to play at full-back or in midfield, Bennett joined Boro as a teenager, signing his first professional contract in 2012.
He has figured regularly for the club’s under-21 side this term, who currently sit ninth in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Division One.
Gateshead manager Neil Aspin is hopeful Bennett’s versatility will prove a valuable asset for his side in the weeks to come.
He said: “In the games I have seen Andre this season, he has been able to play in a number of positions.
“He is very athletic and comfortable on the ball, and he will give us a couple of options.
“He has been a regular for Middlesbrough’s under-21 side, but he is desperate to go out and play some men’s football.
“So, hopefully the move should suit both parties.”
