he countdown to Boston United’s huge FA Cup clash against Rochdale is under way.

A third round tie at home to Premier League giants Newcastle United is at stake in next Monday’s televised second round replay at The Jakemans Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm).

Both teams now have a clear period of preparation before the FA Cup showdown under the York Street floodlights, with the National League granting special dispensation for the postponement of United’s scheduled home fixture against Brackley Town.

“It’s absolutely amazing support from the league,” said Pilgrims boss Craig Elliott.

“It is a rare thing and we are the last [National League North] team left, so we will try and do the league proud. We are really thankful because it gives the lads the best preparation to give the best version of ourselves.”
