Boston United manager Craig Elliott is hoping to extend the loan spells of Grimsby Town pair Ahkeem Rose and Max Wright report Lincolnshire Live.

The young Mariners duo both stepped off the bench to score in Saturday’s 3-1 National League North victory over Curzon Ashton but with a blank weekend coming up due to the Pilgrims’ early FA Cup exit, the pair’s initial loan spells are virtually at an end.

Both players have made four appearances for the Pilgrims, three apiece from the start, with Rose scoring twice and Wright once – and Elliott praised the duo’s impact from the bench at the Tameside Stadium at the weekend.

“I knew they would be a good plan B,” reflected Elliott. “It was not a matter that they played poorly last week as such but I knew that if the game was tight, they could come on with their pace and have a real impact.

“They have done well for us but I think it is obvious that they still need games. Hopefully we can help them become better players.”
