Ahead of Nantwich Town’s FA Cup first round fixture this weekend against AFC Fylde at the Weaver Stadium, youngster Troy Bourne is relishing the opportunity.
The 21-year-old is a graduate of the Nantwich Town academy, and after a tough start to the season on the sidelines, Bourne jumped on the opportunity to play by scoring in his first start of the 2019/20 campaign. His goal was the only goal in a tense 1-0 victory against Vanarama National League North high-flyers, King’s Lynn Town, which put the Dabbers in the hat for the first round.
He said: “It’s great for me to be back in the starting eleven, and to score a goal in my first game back is an indescribable feeling. I didn’t know what to do with myself!”
The defender is looking forward to the prospect of showcasing the team’s footballing ability in front of what is sure to be a very busy stadium this weekend.
“Playing in front of a packed Weaver Stadium will be brilliant.”
