Gary Brabin says that he and the Tranmere Rovers squad are in a positive mood looking ahead to the final league game of the season against Grimsby Town at Prenton Park on Saturday.
Rovers go into the game needing a victory and for Altrincham to beat Braintree Town to get into the final play-off position.
The manager says they have to remain focused on doing their job before worrying about what is going on elsewhere.
He told Tranmere Player: “We are going into the game in an optimistic frame of mind. We’re looking forward to the game, it’s another match in front of our fans and one which we are going into full of confidence, wanting to put on a good performance and get the right result.
“First and foremost, I want to focus on ourselves and getting our result right. I know from previous experience that if anything happens in the other games, you can tell from the reaction of the crowd.
“It’s important that we get it right here at Prenton Park and then lets see what happens elsewhere.”
Rovers have not been battling at the upper end of the league standings for a number of years and Brabin says there is an excitement around the Club going into this fixture.
He added: “It’s exciting that we’re going into the last game of the season with a lot still to play for.
“A lot of things can happen on Saturday and I think it’s important that we don’t lose focus from what is needed from our end.”
