Tranmere Rovers continued their pre-season preparations in Dublin yesterday with a 3-3 draw against EFL League One side MK Dons.
Three excellently taken goals by Adam Mekki, James Norwood and Jake Kirby were well received by manager Gary Brabin who was happy with his team’s attacking play.
He told Tranmere Player: “I’m really pleased with the workout. Karl Robinson came up to me and said he was delighted with the tempo from both teams.
“We went at it straight from the off which you want in pre-season.
“From a fitness perspective, both teams look sharp and got what they needed out of the game.
“We scored three good goals, and, I know they were offside, but scored another couple as well, so from an attacking point of view it was good.”
In a game played on a big pitch in warm conditions, both teams played at a high intensity.
The concession of three goals was something which irked the manager, but overall he believes it was a good workout as he team build towards the start of the season on August 6.
He added: “You’re always disappointed to be conceding goals and even in a pre-season game, I don’t like to be conceding goals.
“There’s still stuff that we are working on but you can’t come away from the fact that this time is all about getting the players’ fitness ready for the new season.
“But there were some really pleasing performances so all in all it has been a good exercise.”
