Tranmere Rovers left it late but finally got the winning goal in the 94th minute as James Norwood slotted home with almost the final kick of the match to maintain Rovers’ 100% start to the 2016-17 season.
Gary Brabin was pleased that his side kept going until the end and got their rewards.
He told Tranmere Player HD: “The most pleasing thing was the character we showed.
“We deservedly went in front and then the goal we defended, as a team, was disappointing. We’re better than that.
“After the break, I thought we looked really good and showed game ‘know how’. We stayed patient, kept the ball and we never stopped believing that we would get the winner.”
The manager had praise for the winning goalscorer, James Norwood, who takes his tally for the new season to four.
“It wasn’t Nors’ day in terms of penalties but when the chance came at the end he took it and gets us a deserved three points.
“You always feel like he can score a goal and thankfully he did at the end there for us.”
