Brazilian-born goalkeeper Lucas Covolan Cavagnari has signed a 1-year contract after completing a successful pre-season trial with Worthing FC.
The 26-year-old started his career in his homeland for Brazilian Seria A club Atlético Paranaense, while also lists Spanish side Union Deportiva Alaró as a former club as well as near-neighbours Whitehawk for whom he appeared in the National League South last season.
Manager Gary Elphick is pleased the deal has been confirmed: “I’m pleased to finally get Lucas signed”. “Goalkeeper is such an important position; Lucas is big and commanding which you need to be at this level”.
“He’s done really well in the games so far and has good experience so I’m confident he’s going to be a very good signing for us”.
With the departure of Jack Fagan, Covolan looks set to be Elphick’s number one and is in line to make his debut in Saturday’s opening day trip to Metropolitan Police.
