Jon was released from Wigan in the summer of 2012 and spent most of pre season training and trialling with Brentford with the expectation of an offer, at late Jon was told they could not offer a contract. He also played a number of trial games in October for Stoke City.

He has since featured for Colwyn Bay, Morcambe, Rhyl, Witton Albion and Cerin Druids.
