Vanarama National League newcomers York City have completed the signing of former striker Richard Brodie on a one year-deal.

The 28-year-old put pen-to-paper on his deal this afternoon and becomes Jackie McNamara’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Jack Higgins from Stalybridge Celtic.

Brodie returns to Bootham Crescent having enjoyed a goal-littered spell with the club between 2007 and 2010, which included 34 strikes in fifty-one appearances in his final full campaign in North Yorkshire.

Since leaving Bootham Crescent, Brodie has had spells with Crawley Town, Gateshead, Southport, Aldershot Town and Stockport County.
