Stockport County have signed striker Richard Brodie
Brodie is a 28 year-old, six-foot-two, England C international with an excellent goal scoring record at National League level, including 69 goals in 165 games for York City, successive Conference titles with Crawley Town and Fleetwood, and 16 goals last season for Southport.
The Newcastle-born striker was also named Conference Player of the Year in 2010, as his 34 goals fired York City to the Play-Off Final.
He began his career with Whickham in Northern League Division Two in 2004, scoring 21 goals in 2005-06. He has twice played in the FA Trophy Final, for York in 2009 and Grimsby Town in 2013, and also played for Barrow, Morecambe, Gateshead and Hereford United in a career which has brought more than 150 goals. Richard has scored 5 goals and in 17 starts since joining the Shots in August 2015.
Hatters boss Jim Gannon said: “Richard is an excellent addition to the squad and his goal scoring record speaks for itself. He has won the Conference title twice and we are delighted to welcome him to Edgeley Park. He is dropping down a division to play for County, which reflects his confidence in our ambition.”
Richard will be eligible to play for County in Tuesday night’s game at Harrogate Town, along with striker Obi Anoruo, who arrived from Gloucester City earlier this week.
